The Church in Europe

Here’s some frightening stuff…

In Europe and Eurasia – the region where I have the joy to work – there is a total population approaching 870 million. Out of that total population according to the book Operation World, approximately 17 million are what we would recognise as Bible believing Christians (about 2%). These are people who would associate themselves with the person of Jesus, and who would ascribe to the authority of scripture and the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit, as opposed to the 80% of Poles who claim to be Roman Catholic, or the large number of Russians who are statistically Orthodox by virtue of being born Russian!

OK so 2% out of 870 million.

But of that 2%, half the number live in just 3 countries – Germany, Netherlands and the UK, leaving a measly 8
